There are other museums in NYC besides the MET?

I decided to take a trip to the Rubin Museum the other day...as a way of procrastinating on my lunch hour.  I am not normally a big fan of museums but what a pleasant surprise.  First off, the building itself is beautiful with a gorgeous spiral staircase in the middle of the space.  The Rubin Museum is a collection of Himalayan Art.  There are six floors however only four were open on my visit, but there was plenty to see.  I gave myself an hour and quickly realized I would need to come back another time to truly experience all the museum has to offer.  The tapestries, statues, clothing, all so ornamental and detailed that one is provided with a magnifying glass to see all the intricacies.  What I was most impressed with was the way the museum's information was presented.  There are instructions and information adorning all the walls to let you know the theme of the floor and what each exhibit contains.  There is just enough information to spark one's interest, learn a little something new, but not so much information that your brain overloads and you need to walk out.  I definitely plan on returning to the Rubin again.  For more information please go to http://www.rmanyc.org
