The Fashion Institute of Technology is a college of art and design, business and technology of the State University of New York (SUNY), with more than 44 programs leading to the AAS, BFA, BS, MA, and MPS degrees. The college serves close to 10,000 students in such diverse areas as interior design, advertising and marketing communications, fine arts, fashion design, and fashion merchandising management.
The Museum at FIT is the only museum in New York City dedicated to the art of fashion. It has a permanent collection of more than 50,000 garments and accessories, dating from the 18th century to the present. The museum is open to the public, free of charge, Tuesday through Friday, from noon until 8 p.m., and on Saturday from 10 am until 5 pm.
